Recommended Modalities & Therapies

Depending on your pain condition, the chiropractor may suggest specific modalities and/or therapies to add on to your adjustment.

Kinesiology Tape

Kinesiology tape, commonly called K-tape, is applied to the skin to stabilize muscles and increase proprioception. K-tape can also be used for rehab purposes, re-educate muscles, reduce inflammation and optimize performance to reduce risk of injury, which is why it is commonly used by many professional athletes.

Electrical Stimulation

This modality elicits muscle contractions using electric impulses. It helps to reduce muscle spasm, prevent muscular atrophy, improve range of motion and blood circulation flow. Commonly used for midback pain, lower back pain, muscular weakness and spasms.

Spinal Traction Table

The spinal traction table is used to gently relieve pressure on the spine.  The traction can be performed on both the lower back and the neck. This traction device is commonly used to treat bulged discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and pinched nerves. Don’t worry, this therapy is completely pain-free.

Muscle Scraping

Also known as “Gua-sha”, this ancient Chinese technique is used where the body surface is press-stroked with a smooth-edged instrument to intentionally raise petechiae. It helps to move toxins out by breaking up scar tissue. It also promotes blood flow circulation to the area to increase healing process.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Ultrasound is used to provide deep heating to soft tissue structures to help with inflammation and the healing process in your body. Common treatments include frozen shoulder, soft tissue injuries, tendonitis, bursitis, sprain and ligament injuries.

CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping is an alternative therapy that originated in China. It involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. Cupping is known to increase blood to flow into the area of tissue. It also warms the skin and softens tissues to regain elasticity. Cupping will leave circular bruises and marks can last for 1-2 weeks.
