About Dr. Chris Aoyama

Looking back to my childhood and how my chiropractic journey all started...

Approximately when I was 9 years old, I was first introduced to the healthcare field. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into but I knew it always solved some type of issues that people were having. Over the years, my parents began to set some of my weekends with friends and family who were already in the program. So growing up as a kid, healthcare was all I heard about.

My hard studies throughout my middle school and high school years got me admitted to University of California, Davis. There, I majored in neurobiology, physiology and behavior and graduated in 2009. At that point of my life, I had only heard of chiropractic once. So when did chiropractic come into my life?

My Journey to Chiropractic

After I graduated, my dad was involved in an injury from work. He hurt his leg and had difficulty walking. I remember vividly him calling me to tell me he couldn’t get off the couch and there was nothing I could do. I knew from that moment I needed to figure out a solution. Fortunately, I have a family member who is a chiropractor. Although my dad couldn’t see him due to distance, he was taught few stretches, strengthening, range of motion and therapies to apply at home over the phone. Few days later my dad calls me that he was feeling a lot better. And that moment was enough for me to seek out what chiropractic is about. That was when my chiropractic journey began.

Through interning and becoming more knowledgable about chiropractic care, I knew that this career could help a lot of people. My determination to helping people through chiropractic care motivated me to enroll and graduate from Southern California University of Health Sciences in 2014.

So here we are…opening UNWIND Chiropractic Care. My goal is always going to be how can I help the community and how can they benefit from my care? Helping you will be my biggest reward here. I thank you for choosing UNWIND Chiropractic Care.

MY FAMILY

I grew up most of my life in Northern California. My parents currently live in Berkeley and I have a twin brother that lives in Central California. Both my parents are retired and my brother is an optometrist.

HOBBIES

I grew up playing sports my whole life. Two of my favorite sports are basketball and golf. During my spare time, I love to go to the range or play 18 holes or play pickup games at 24-hour fitness.
