FAQ

First time with chiropractic care. What can I experience?

Welcome to chiropractic care. You’re making a great choice by incorporating chiropractic care into your life to improve qualify of life. You’re about to discover what the power of chiropractic care can add to your spine.

During your initial visit, you will fill out short, simple exam forms so that we can get to know you  and understand where your symptoms are located. Once the forms are completed, you will be prompted to watch a 2-minute video about chiropractic so you understand exactly what a chiropractic adjustment is. If you have more questions, chiropractor will go over with you in more details so you don’t have to feel nervous about your first visit.

How safe is chiropractic adjustment?

No, it’s nothing like what you see in movies. Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects.

I can “crack” my own neck and back. What’s the difference?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions that a lot of patients misunderstand. When you often “crack” your own back, it is because one area of the joint is restricted (hypo mobile) causing other areas to be hyper mobile. When you “crack” by yourself, you’re moving the hyper mobile rather than the hypo mobile joint. Chiropractic adjustment, exactly the opposite, fixes the hypo mobile joint. You will feel a relief temporary however, fixing the hypo mobile joint is going to have the long term effect.

During your Examination and Treatment

The chiropractor will perform various orthopedic testing to develop working diagnosis for your symptoms. If your symptoms are appropriate with chiropractic adjustment, you will be treated on the same day. If your condition would be more appropriately co-managed by another health care professional, chiropractor will make the proper referral for you. You will not be charged for your initial exam.

After chiropractic adjustment, the doctor will suggest necessary modalities/therapies that will benefit along with the adjustment. First modality/therapy is on us with your first visit.

What is the “cracking” noise from the adjustment? Does it hurt?

The noise you hear is nitrogen gas bubbles escaping from the joint during the adjustment. It’s not bone grinding on another bone. A great example of this would be the “pop” sound you hear when opening a champagne bottle. Not all chiropractic adjusting techniques produce this noise. In fact, some adjusting produce no sound.

Our adjustment is very minimal, meaning it is a high velocity, low amplitude technique. It is rare you will feel pain and most people feel a relief after.
